I hope I don't regret doing this.
For a limited time only, you can make a member of one of the event races for a character. No, there aren't any strings attached to it. You make this character and keep it, regardless of what race the character is. But you only get one. Once you've made that one event race character, you need to either win another event race character slot from a contest or wait for that race's planet to roll around as the event planet.
This little "special" will end on January 1st, 2011. Characters made before then will still be valid to be accepted even after the ending date has passed (which means that if the staff start slacking off, you can still have your character as long as you post it before January 1st).
Why is this event happening? Well, it should be obvious by now that I'm pretty desperate to get people to stay. Encouraging them with the idea of having something "special" or "limited" (or just letting them make a character of a race they happen to like) might help, somehow. I don't know.
