they say good things only come to those who matter,
i say that good things come to all whom deserve.
Birthname: Kenau Lyss'noh
Title: the Fierce Peacemaker
Gender: Female
Age: 32 years old
Race: Pegnalar (Kannar subspecies)Pegnalar would be a rather ancient subspecies of Kannar that's rather rare. Their tribes are few and scattered across their given planet, and have hidden themselves due to past issues with the typical Kannar. Having been evolutionarily grown in the high peaks and cliffs of the Forgin Lands, they over time developed the idea of creating low-tech wings to help them travel their lands. These wings are often made of animal hide, sticks and sometimes even bone. Their wings cannot support long-distance travel, and they actually prefer to simply walk. These wings are of course optional and tend to be difficult to make due to the lack of technological resources in the Kannar society. Both males and females develop mane-like furs around their necks, much like real life elk, but most naturally grow into different styles and colors (all tending to be a natural color). This subspecies also has found themselves moreso carnivore than vegetarian, and often develop sharper teeth and fangs. They do have a tendency to be more hostile with any other race when they reside in their tribes, but when they venture and open up, they can be accepting and warm creatures like their primary race. The horns, ears, tails and other things still remain the same as the typical Kannar.
* This subspecies has been approved by Ibur.
Appearance: Kenau is a prideful appearing female, who is has some very distinguishing traits. Being a Pegnalar, she clearly stands out amongst the typical crowds, even of Kannar. She stands at a height of five foot eleven inches, being nearly six feet high, and weighs about two-hundred and thirty-six pounds. She has an elegant composure and aura, but doesn't lack ferocity in her eyes and a regal poise in her stature. There is much to take in from this particular creature, and she isn't one that blends in with the rest.
A very light creamy color makes for the base of her pelt, but a red-tinted brown that shines mahogany in the sunlight makes a spotted blotchy pattern that originates on her backside and fades across her sides. There is a very dark strip of grayish brown that starts at the end of her muzzle and runs all the way to the tip of her tail. Of course, she has a thick, bristly mane that falls back against her nape, and the tips are colored grayish brown to follow the strip of color down her back, the remainder of the tips of the hairs on the sides of her neck are inconsistently black, but the rest matches her creamy white pelt. The unnatural looking patterns of color that the Kannar race is noted for is not something that Kenau is blooming with; though she does have lavender spiral markings on her face and on her shoulders and upper back, but they are light and not too obvious (to be shown in picture).
Kenau has an intense set of facial features. This includes eyes that are a radiant purple, shaded by heavy black eyelashes. They carry an intense and potentially intimidated stare, but can also express the deepest of compassion and intimacy. In the summer time, golden amber flakes can be see in her irises, but only truly noticeable when outside, in sunlight. Her muzzle is sharp and is true to the similarity between deer and canine, being both tapered but still strong, broad and long, with the thick canine nose at the end. Her head is more canine than the norm, and it does tend to give her a more distinct appearance. As for fangs, though, hers do not reach farther than her lip, but are sharp and useful, same with most of her front teeth. Nonetheless, Kenau has a very feminine look. Of course, she is very able to change her expression drastically, and some could be surprised by seeing a form of her face that they hadn't seen previously. As for her markings, they are solely around her eyes, the larger spirals curling under.
One of her more notable traits would be the subspecies artificial wings atop her back. They are built from tough hides and actual bones taken from larger birds. Hers are rather rugged looking, and slightly beaten and torn from general ware and tear. She isn't always found with them on, though, but generally doesn't have a place to put them temporarily so is left with no choice but to leave them on. They strap over her shoulders and branch off to wrap under her armpits and down to the main belt around her waist. These straps are made from leather, and buckles and rings of steel.
Kannar are known for their horns, and Kenau is proud to not lack one. Even moreso, she cherishes the horn that she has, as it is unlike any other she has seen. It is spiraled, but stands straight until it begins a curve backwards to make a slight U-shape. It is a medium gray base color, but is painted with honorary markings colored green and purple.
Clothing is unimportant to Kenau, and in all honesty she'd prefer to run around nude, but in modern society that is unacceptable. So, she is most often seen in tan trousers that enclose only the thigh, and a more intricate black shirt that covers the breasts and has straps that go over the shoulders, but avoid her wings by going more around the deltoid and shoulder to leave it backless and merely cover her upper abdominals. She runs barefoot, finding shoes uncomfortable and unnatural, defying the purpose of having padded feet. She is adorned with a couple accessories; a light-colored cream quiver, a bracelet on her left wrist that is decorated with rare gems, a matching silver chain necklace with a silver oddly shaped pendant, and multiple silver and gold hoop earrings.
Personality: At very first impression, Kenau can come off as rather cold. Due to her many losses, she has grow into a thin shell that has made her reluctant to trust others; but that is not the only reason, for she is new to the workings of modern society and finds herself often confused and lacks understanding of why the worlds have been made into what they've become. It is easily to break through this wall if you have a what she perceives to be a good heart, or in the least a pleasant personality. It is then that you can interact with the collected kindness that is Kenau's main personality. She will be warm and welcoming to those she believes deserve it, and is fairly quick to make friends when the chance is given.
Unfortunately, Kenau is somewhat judgmental. Although you can't entirely blame her for it, it was how she was raised. The standards of her tribe were harsh and looked down on those with weakness, or those who are cursed with sadistic personalities. So, she examines people and observes how they try to interact with her and the way they act in general, just to read what kind of person they truly are. Psychology would be something to spark her interest if it hadn't been for her judging, but she sees people's outsides and largely assumes that those are the equivalent of their insides; like her people were. True and real people are those she can come to respect and love.
Much like her appearance, Kenau has a streak of ferocity in her. She is quick to be on the defense, and has been close to losing her trait of passive-aggressive communicating. This is mainly due to the destruction of her tribe, clearly, and the mere fact that she sees the majority of modern Kylians as ignorant and fake, so she has found herself not too welcoming to those who present some kind of challenge, whether it be of wit or force. It is possible she could come off as too defensive, but she cares not what others think and currently is only out for her own welfare. She hopes to find a place to salvage and retrieve her inner peacefulness once more, but her lack of trust in the community is a deterrent from that achievement.
Nonetheless, Kenau is an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable female. She is strategic in almost everything she does, and she is one who always thinks before she acts. She can be mean with her tongue, but always still kind with her heart. She's rather religious, and speaks towards the higher beings often. She is dynamic in her own right, and very unlike most.
History: In the high and rocky peaks of the Forgin Lands, there was once a sacred tribe that resided within a secluded set of cliffs. This tribe was named Synquinas and was one of the first tribes to develop the artificial wing. They followed strict customs that were based on loyalty, compassion, bravery and strength. Their beliefs surrounded the assurance of a strong and kind character; no one was to be too soft or too hard. Due to this, the population of this tribe was low, they were extremely hard on the members and how their matter of heart was. Anyone could be unique, but everyone had to be able to stand up for themselves and be compassionate at the same time. They were the fierce peacemakers, who sought peace but were never ones to back down from a challenge unless it was deemed pitiful and immature. Collectively, they are a group of hard-headed Pegnalars with naturally good hearts and morals. This is where Kenau was birthed.
The leaders of the tribe were two large and powerful looking Pegnalar; Shynamei Lyssken was her dame, and Kurgnarlok Tei'noh was her sire. They were quite the pair, having led the tribe since they were in their early twenties. Having married at the traditional ages of sixteen and seventeen, the two bonded quickly and developed both a sincere love and deep respect for one another. They were highly honored in the tribe, and it was easily predicted they would be offered the top positions in the ranks. Shynamei had dual talents, being both an excellent priestess and huntress. Kurgnarlok didn't lack talent, though, he was a fierce warrior yet made for an excellent ambassador. The melting pot of traits in these individuals made them the ideal candidates. Immediately, they didn't desire a child, their focus was committed to the tribe and its denizens.
It wasn't until they began aging into their late thirties that they decided to spawn, and it was mainly because they wanted to assure that they would have a worthy successor in case they came to some kind of unfortunate fate beforehand. So, Kenau was born. She was recognized as a blessed child from birth, as she naturally showed the beginnings of what was to be a wonderful and skilled Pegnalar. She was often quiet, simply observing and absorbing all the information and knowledge she could, as she was told early on what kind of responsibilities were to be hers in the future.
Her parents loved her indefinitely, but never derived too much of their attention from the welfare of the tribe. This gave Kenau plenty of opportunities to explore on her own and learn the dynamics of the tribe. Something interesting about her was that in her childhood, she often enjoyed running on all fours like a feral creature. This wasn't necessarily frowned upon, but was very unusual for most children.
Childhood didn't last long for Kenau, and she took that fact well. She was born rather mature, and it developed as she did but was always a step ahead of her true age. Her raising wasn't interfered by many odd occurrences, surprisingly, and she lived a fairly normal and happy childhood. It wasn't until she got older that things got interesting. By the time she was twenty years old, she hadn't married (much to many's surprise, but she could never find the a male that sufficed despite all the eligible bachelors in the tribe) and had accomplished much in her teen and young adult hood. She was a wonderful huntress like her mother, and excelled in the area of war, as well as being a generally passionate and caring person. She had a great degree of honor and integrity, thanks to her parents and their genes, as well as her humble past. Shynamei and Kurgnarlok were now growing old, and the once healthy couple began to be plagued with the illness of age.
Not long after the celebration of her twentieth year, both her parents died. It wasn't extremely devastating to her despite her deep love for them, but only because she knew it was coming soon and the lessons of the Synquinas tribe was that death was a beautiful thing rather than an ugly one. They were going to a better place. Inevitably, Kenau was the successor of her parents and even though she lacked a companion to rule with her, the tribe widely accepted her taking the throne. She proudly took it, having felt the burning desire to prove herself worthy of leading the tribe.
Years went on with pure success as Kenau being the tribemaster, and she suited the role perfectly. She was no dictator, yet no pushover, just like the expectations of every expectations of every Synquinas denizen. She received gifts and charms as every leader did, and had even been given her horn tattoos at the age of twenty-seven. The people of the tribe loved and respected her deeply, as she did them. She did everything in her power to keep them safe, but followed through with well-thought out mini-wars with other tribes. She proved herself as no weenie, but could still care for every individual and still the tribe as a whole.
Though, she was blind to the coming disaster. When she was the age of thirty, she was hit with the most devastating experience in her lifetime. The mountains collapsed. This hellish mix of rock avalanches and hectic demolishing eliminated the tribe entirely; the homes and the people both. Fortunately, she had been out consulting with an ambassador from another tribe out of her home. When she returned she saw the utter destruction that was left where her tribe once was. And for the first time in her life, Kenau cried. She sobbed and knelt on the cracked and ruined ground until she could manage to regain some kind of strength. Luckily, she was resilient at heart, and this aided her in departing from her village. Where she was to go, she did not know. She didn't wish to seek acceptance into another tribe, or officially reside anywhere for that matter. So, she began traveling, in search of something to replace what she once had. Maybe this was to be discovered through experiencing the worlds and learning new things, but there wasn't anything definite in her mind.
