"Chrono Stars" takes place in a far-off galaxy known as the Ailnyk Galaxy. It was created by three Fantasticas (beings of supreme power) respectively named Zylis, Gareth and Nightmare, but it is for the most part governed by a group of supernatural beings that reside at the very center of the galaxy: the Order of Arplakoon.
The planet at the center of the galaxy, Arplakoon (for which the Order is named), not only has all the planets in the galaxy revolving around it, but it has three small suns revolving around it as well. These suns emit Chrono, which is the main energy source of the galaxy due to how powerful and common it is. Chrono allows quick space travel, reducing trips in outer space that would normally take years to a mere few weeks.
There are many planets in the Ailnyk Galaxy, but "Chrono Stars" focuses on two: Drio and Nicta. These two planets have been steady allies through wars, times of strife, and rapidly shifting trade routes. As they are the focal points of the forum, they are always available for exploration. Members may make characters who are of races native to Nicta and Drio, which are described here.
While the information about the galaxy found on the forum should be enough for you to enjoy Chrono Stars' unique setting, you may take a gander at the more in-depth (and sporadically updated) companion wiki if you're ever interested or simply have a lot of spare time.
"Event Planets"
Every so often, the planet Larot III -- which is a neighbor to Nicta -- opens up portals due to an overexposure to Chrono from Arplakoon's suns. These portals all lead to another planet. When this happens, the forum calls it an "event planet". During a planet's event time, characters may explore it, do quests on it, and tame and fight monsters on it. Furthermore, members may create new characters that are of a race native to the event planet. However, these portals are unstable. They only last for about three weeks, after which they close. Following that, the "event planet" will not be available for use until it is chosen as an event planet again. After about a week or so, a new event planet is picked, and the process begins again.
Characters still on the event planet when it "shuts down" will be allowed to finish their threads before being unceremoniously dumped back on Larot III, but will not be able to make new ones during this time.
